I spoke with my contact at Thule and the OutWay Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier, # TH65JV, has been confirmed to fit your 2008 Mercedes C350, however, there is a risk of the bumper cover becoming deformed with the use of this carrier. They strongly discourage using this rack because although it fits, it is heavy and better suited for vehicles with a metal bumper. Damage to the car from using this rack will not be covered under any warranty from Thule.

Thule strongly suggests going with a roof mounted system. Keep in mind that you will want to check your owners manual (or contact your local dealership) to confirm how much weight the roof of your Mercedes can safely handle. You will need to account for the weight of the roof rack and anything that you intend to load onto it. For example, if your vehicle can handle 100-lbs on its roof, then you need to deduct the weight of the Thule roof system (approximately 16-lbs) to know how much weight you can safely load onto the roof of the vehicle. The total combined weight of everything on your roof cannot exceed its rated capacity.

Assuming that your Mercedes is a sedan with no existing rails or crossbars, the AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack System, # TH7602-TH7603, # THKIT3049 is a great choice. Pair that with the Thule UpRide Wheel-Mount Bike Carrier, # TH599000, and you have the complete setup to haul a bicycle.

If you are still interested in a trunk mount system, I would suggest the Thule OutWay 2 Bike hanging Carrier # TH45JV. Although risk of damage to the vehicle is still possible, this rack is quite a bit lighter than the platform-style rack which definitely assists in lessening the risk. It is also very popular because of how easy it is to install and remove.

Here are a few tips that can considerably reduce the risk of damage to your vehicle when using a trunk mounted bike rack. 1) Make sure the surface of the rack and vehicle are clean and free of any debris. A good coat of quality car wax applied to the vehicles finish will also provide extra protection. 2) Installation instructions should be precisely followed. 3) Rack should be removed when not in use. 4) Rack weight capacity should be strictly adhered to.

If you plan on carrying women's, children's or alternative framed bikes, with any of the hanging style racks, you may also be interested in purchasing a Thule Bike Adapter Bar, # TH982XT. The adapter bar provides a level attachment method for your bike and helps to maintain safe ground clearance while on the rack.

I am also attaching a couple videos that may be of help to you.
