Can Trailer Tire Size ST215/75R14 Replace 205/75R14
Question:
My 2-year-old, 21-foot, single-axle Jayco travel trailer still has the stock ST205/75R14 Class D tires. I am thinking about changing over to a pair of ST215/75R14 or ST215/75R15 tires since I have a long trip to Alaska planned and will face rougher pavements and gravel roads of varying quality along the way. Am I right that these sizes should 1 fit my current rims and axle, and 2 would provide better performance/longevity on such surfaces than the stock size?

Expert Reply:
The ST215/75R14 would fit on your current wheels since both fit a 14 inch trailer wheel but the other size you mentioned is for a 15 inch wheel so it would not work. A larger tire would give you slightly better performance and longevity so if it's time for new tires I would go with something like the part # TTWTRTM2157514D. If what you have now is in good shape I don't know if I would say going with the slightly larger size at that point would be worth it.
