On your 2011 Nissan Frontier there could be a blown or missing relay in the tow package wiring. You will want to consult the truck owners manual for all of the fuse and relay locations for the tow package wiring. The best way to check a relay is to use a known good relay in place of a potential bad one.

It is possible that there is an in-cab relay that is missing on your Frontier, the blue relay from the Relay Kit # C57000, but this is normally not the case on the Frontiers.

You can also test the vehicle side trailer connector using a circuit tester like # PTW2992. If the running light circuit has power at the vehicle side connector, then the issue is likely on the trailer. I have included a link to our help article that will help you troubleshoot.

Common problems on the trailer side include a dirty/corroded trailer connector or poor ground connection.
