Upgrading To Aluminum Wheels On A 3 Horse Tandem Axle Livestock Trailer
Question:
Looking to upgrade wheel on our 3 horse slant load steel livestock trailer. I was looking at these part # AX02550545BML Aluminum Viking Series Valhalla Trailer Wheel - 15inch x 5inch - 5 on 4-1/2 - Black Spoke .would these work? I know the load range on the wheel says 2150 per wheel and our trailer tag says gvw is 7000 - but it has two 3500 # axles on it / or do I need to stick with steel rims ? Thanks in advance

The Aluminum Viking Series Valhalla Trailer Wheels # AX02550545BML are a great choice for upgrading the wheels on your livestock trailer. Provided your trailer currently is fitted with 15", 5 on 4-1/2" Wheels.
With trailer wheels the weight capacity is combined. So if you were to put 4 of these 2,150 lbs capacity wheels on your trailer, you would have a combined capacity of 8,600 lbs. This would exceed your GVWR so you will have no problems weight capacity-wise. This will actually be ideal for a trailer with two 3.5K axles.
Aluminum wheels are certainly preferred over steel wheels, as Aluminum wheels are going to be lighter, more rust resistant, and in most cases much better looking than steel wheels.
