Trailer Hitch For 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 w/ Factory Hitch to Allow 32-36 Inch Extension

Hello, I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 quad cab short bed with factory 2 inch hitch installed. I need to add a 32–36-inch extension. The heaviest thing I would tow is a single axle 7x12 enclosed trailer loaded with a snowmobile or atv, fuel, gear, tools, supplies etc.. What options do you have for an extension and hitch that will install with the factory hitch? Thanks

So we do have one option for your 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with a factory hitch that will allow you to add another hitch as well as an extension. Since there isn't an extension that fits a 2 inch hitch, what you'd have to do is add a 2-1/2 inch hitch and an extension, using the following parts:

- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - 2-1/2" # C15809

- Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches - 24" to 34" Long # C45048

The Curt hitch will fit under your OEM hitch, and then the extension will give you a 34 inch extension. The extension is also technically a reducer so its receiver will be a 2 inch receiver. Just keep in mind the extension has a 4,500 lb towing/450 lb tongue weight capacity, or 6,000 lbs towing/600 lb tongue weight if you use it with weight distribution like the Blue Ox # BLU36FR.
