Lippert Smart Jack Extending On Its Own. What Can I Do?
Question:
Hi - we have a 2021 Lance 2645 with a Smart Jack on it. Last night for some reason the jack extended all the way on its own - lifting the trailer up off the front jacks and jamming the back ones into the ground. There is no damage to the jacks. Im wondering if this is an issue that is correctable? My fear is it will happen again when were driving down the road.

Unfortunately this is a known issue with these Lippert Smart Jacks # LC643589. Water can get into the circuit board which causes the jack to extend on its own. We have contacted Lippert regarding this issue in the past and we have been told that the circuit board is not replaceable. I am sorry to say that if the issue persists, your only option will be to replace your smart jack.
If you want to go with a different jack, we recommend the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-3755. This is a very similar 3.5K rated electric jack. It is not necessarily a "smart jack", but the Stromberg jacks are known to be top quality and highly durable. We have never received a single complaint of a Stromberg jack extending on its own.
