Snow Tire Chains For 285/65R20 & 295/65R20 For Snow & Mud

Question:

I have a 22 ram 3500 SRW 4X4 longbed. looking for tire chains. I have the stock firestones now which are 285/65r20 E rated. when these wear out, which will be soon, I plan on putting E rated 295/65r20 Toyos AT3s or mud terrains or Nittos not sure what model yet but they will be comparable to the Toyos I want or better. I will be up in the Cascade Mountains a lot this winter. probably rain mostly but some months will have a lot of snow and mud. For some roads in the PNW required I have chains with me at least in the vehicle. My question is will a set of tire changes for my Firestones 285/60r20 fit the new tires when I get them 295/65r20? And can you recommend said tires chains? will I need them for all 4 tires? I usually get a set of 2?

Good news as there is a set of tire chains that meets all your needs - fits both 285/65R20 and 295/65R20 tires, will work both in snow and mud, and can even be used off-road. The tires are from pewag and are the following:

- pewag Tire Chains # PWE2226S

The # PWE2226S have square links which are ideal for not both heavy and deep snow because they dig in better than other styles like twist links, for example. These also have a horizontal ladder pattern for consistent traction, and are made of case-hardened steel for strength.

You will only need a pair (so not all four tires), and the only thing I recommend when using snow tire chains are rubber adjusters to always have a constant tight fit. For your tire size(s) use Titan Chain Multi-Arm Rubber Tire Chain Adjuster for Heavy Trucks # TCMA3.
