How Does Tow Vehicle with Separate Turn Signals from Stoplights Get Wired w Diodes for Flat Towing
Question:
Bought a flat tow it and tow bar from you for our Mini Cooper. Want to wire the Mini for lights it has separate bulbs for turn signals then the brake and running lights are combined in another bulb. Will a flat four wiring harness work both the brakes and the running lights?

A 4-way would not be able to carry a separate brake light from a turn signal but if you used a signal converter and a kit with additional diodes you could separate out the turn signals from the stoplights. For most people it's easiest to wire vehicles with separate turn signals from stoplights as a combined setup which is what I would do. This won't use the amber turn signals of your Mini at all but what is now the stoplight/running light bulbs would control all three circuits and would be perfectly safe and easy to understand by other motorists.
If the combined setup is the way you want to go you would want the Roadmaster part # RM-15267 and you'd be set. To do a separate setup you'd need the converter part # 118158 and two additional diodes with part # RM-792.
I attached a help article on this page that details how both setups would get wired up as well.
