That is a great question. It really depends on what kind of lift kit you are installing, and how much lift you are adding.

A body lift does not effect towing, since the stock suspension would remain unchanged.

Many suspension lift kits will effect towing capacity. We do not have a way to tell you how much a specific lift kit would effect it. I recommend reaching out to the manufacturer of your lift kit and asking them. They are the ones that would have the information assuming they have done all the testing.

Even if you are installing a lift kit that does not effect towing capacity, the lift will likely negatively affect your ride quality and handling when towing. Generally lifted truck do not make for the best tow vehicles. The main reason for that is they are much more prone to sagging. Adding an air bag kit like the Firestone Ride-Rites, along with a lift spacer kit, will certainly help with that. If you can let me know what year your 1500 was made I am happy to recommend an air bag kit. We generally recommend contacting the manufacturer of your lift kit to tell you what air bag lift spacer you will need.
