Troubleshooting Reese Trailer Brake Controller Only Activating When Manually Controlled
Question:
My Reese brake controller is about 4 yrs old and on my 2nd truck. Installed on this truck 2 yrs ago. All was well in August but as of 2 days ago it no longer activates by pedal. Manual control works fine. With pedal no brake or power read-out. Manual I have brakes and read-out. Any thoughts? Thanks

First you are going to want to use a Test Light # PTW2993 to determine if the wire coming from the brake switch typically the red wire has power when you press the brake pedal. If you have power you know the controller is faulty and will want to consult with Reese to determine if it can be replaced under warranty or if it is time to upgrade to a new Controller # 90195. If there is no power to the input wire you will want to determine if the wire is damaged or the brake switch on your truck is damaged. Do remember to check for any damaged fuses or relays which are for the brake switch.
Please let me know what all tests you have completed and more information on your truck if you are not able to find the solution with the information I provided.
