Adjustability of Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring

Question:

In looking at the detailed drawing for this unit, I see a lot of unused axle in the middle. Does this allow for some width adjustability? My trailer opening falls just short of the 81.

I spoke with my contact at M-3 who said the ramp spring shaft can be cut down to a maximum of 62 inches and you would still have room to wind the springs. The shaft is made of steel tubing so the proper saw or power saw blade would cut through it. Be sure to get a straight cut and file down the rough spots.

The installation instructions for this product are recommended for individuals who have experience winding torsion springs. If you have not worked with a torsion spring system before, we recommend contacting a local garage door company to install this system.
