Could Prodigy Brake Controller Drain Battery of Truck

Question:

I have a Prodigy model #90185 brake controller on my 2004 Chevrolet Truck. I don’t drive the truck every day but, in the last year at least every 2 to 3 weeks I go to drive this truck and it will not crank, the battery is dead. Can this brake controller be gone bad and drawing the battery down and causing the truck not to crank. Thank You!

Expert Reply:

I would say it's pretty unlikely that the Prodigy brake controller you have installed is killing your truck battery but you can test it pretty easy by just unplugging the controller and seeing if the battery still dies or not. If your controller is bad the part # 90885 which is the P2 and updated version of what you have now would be what you would want. It has an improved inertia sensor.
