Can I Use Chains With 18" Tires On A 2013 Ford Escape
Question:
Hello, we have a 2013 Ford Escape with 235/50-R18 tires. The manual says these cannot take chains max. 17, but I see some chains that are confirmed to work here. Can you please advise? Thanks

We do carry chains that will fit the 235/50-18 tires, such as the Konig Tire Chains # TH01594240. As far as your 2013 Ford Escape, if your manual specifies that you cannot use chains with 18" tires, this is likely due to clearance issues within the wheel well area. The Konig chains I mentioned are fairly low profile, and only require 1/2" of internal clearance. I suggest you go in and measure the wheel well area with the wheels turned in both directions, to see how much space you have to work with. You will also want to make sure there are not any obstructions behind the wheel. If any part of the chain were to make contact with the wheel well, or any other part of the car it could cause significant damage. Generally we recommend sticking with whatever is stated in your owners manual.
