The 2006 Chevy 1500 came in an HD model with 6-1/2 foot bed, LD model with 6-1/2 foot bed, and LD model with 5-1/2 foot bed. The Reese rails, # RP58058, can be used in all of these models (except step side beds, there are no fits for step side beds) but they include just the rails. You need a complete installation kit that includes the underbed brackets that attach to the vehicle frame.

For a custom installation kit that fits all of the 1500 short bed models you can use # RP50064-58. This is a complete installation kit. I have linked a video showing an installation for you.

If you do have the 5-1/2 foot bed then you will have to use a fixed 5th wheel trailer hitch and a Sidewinder pin box on the trailer. Otherwise you will not be able to make tight turns without the trailer hitting the truck cab. I have included a link to our informational article on Sidewinders for you.
