For your Beetle Convertible, I would recommend the Curt Class I receiver hitch, part # C11354.

Either the XC, part # S64650 or the XTC-2, part # S64670 would work just fine on your Beetle. If I personally had to choose between the two, I would choose the XTC-2, because of its more robust wheel hoops. The rack includes an anti-rattle hitch pin, but the optional anti-rattle hitch lock/cable lock combo, part # S64031 is highly recommended to deter theft.

Both racks are compatible with Class I, II and with the included adapter, Class III receivers. The rear-mounted spare on the FJ Cruiser might interfere with the rack. To determine if the rack would work on the FJ Cruiser, you would measure rearward from the hitch pin hole until you clear the spare tire. If this distance is less than 8 inches, the XTC-2 would be a fit. If the measurement is less than 10-1/2 inches, the XC will fit.
