Correct Replacement MORryde Shear Spring For Tandem Axle Trailer with 7.2K Axles

Question:

I have a 2009 Carriage Carri-Lite 40 year Anniversary 36SBQ. It currently has Dexter 7200k tandem underslung double eye leaf springs with the Sheer Spring attachment. Best I can measure the axles are 33-35inch wheelbase and the springs are about 26I may be off on these measurements some. I need to replace the whole undercarriage and upgrading to Dexter 89inch 8000k axles 31/2inch tubes as the hubs are discontinued and the axles barely enough to cover dry weight of 14200k. I wanted to put a Roadmaster Comfort ride system but I can't wait for the delivery time. I then thought about the Dexter EZ-Flex Equalizers but not sure they will work because they show 35inch wheelbase for 8k axles. Looking at the current set up Im not sure any other suspension system will fit/work. I need to replace all 4 springs and am not sure which ones to get. I am getting the axles from Southwest Wheel in Dallas and they have a slip spring kit but still not sure if that will work. All that said I need to know which Sheer Spring I need if I stay with the stock suspension system 75 or 20?

Since you're current axles are rated for 7,200 lbs you will be needing the Replacement #20 Rubber Shear Spring # MR79UR as it is designed for axle ratings in the range of 6,501 and 7,500 lbs. You can verify this by looking for a "20" printed into the rubber.

When it comes to replacement leaf springs and equalizers we need to know the length of your leaf springs when unloaded (center eye to center eye) as well as the distances between the bolt holes of your equalizers to get you the correct replacements. If you're considering replacing your shackle straps and wet bolts then I'll need to know the lengths on those as well.

I will say that upgrading the weight capacity of your axles can be a good thing, but you need to make sure you won't be overloading the trailer frame as well. If you have tandem axles rated for 7,200 lbs then the dry (unloaded) weight of your trailer should be much less than that so you have wiggle room for cargo.

If you can get me that extra information for suspension parts I'll be more than happy to make some other recommendations for you!
