Should The 12v Accessory Pin On A Trailer 7-Way Plug Always Be Hot
Question:
I have a 2023 Forest River Grey Wolf 22CEBL with 12v refrigerator, solar, and two batteries. When its not connected to the tow vehicle, should the Aux 12v-charging pin be hot all the time on the trailer wiring? Thank you!

Expert Reply:
If the 12v pin is connected to your trailer batteries and there isn't anything in place to prevent power from back feeding then the pin will remain live. If you install a diode # RM-690 in between the trailer battery and 7-way 12v pin it won't be able to back feed past the diode.
