Parts Needed to Install a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Question:

I have a 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. We had the dealer install what we thought was a tow package. No one asked what we intended to haul. Simply reviewing the specifications, toyota stated highlander hybrid had gvwr of 3500 lbs and regular highlander 5000 lbs. We want to tow a small tear of around 1900-2000 lbs. The dealership put on a class three hitch and a four prong connector. We need a 7 prong connector which they have no part for. Adding a non toyota part voids the hitch yet they have NO 7 prong connector. False advertising from toyota!! Who can put on a 7 point connector, what brand could be used and who has knowledge of toyota vehicle to do it? Needless to say, toyota should be very upfront stating they have no factory authorized 7 point connector so essentially saying neither highlander should be towing any trailer except those that use 4 point connectors!

I have exactly what you need to complete the wiring on your 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid! I'm not sure why the dealership would say adding a 7-Way would void the hitch warranty since they are completely different parts that aren't even connected to each other.

Since you already have the 4-Way connector you just need the 7-Way Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L and then you can plug in a Curt Echo wireless brake controller like the traditional Plug-In # C51180 or the In-Line # C79DR. I prefer the In-Line because it installs under your vehicle meaning it's always there but never visible.
