Recommeded Front Trailer Hitch for a Pontoon Boat

Question:

Im looking to mount a hitch receiver in the front of a pontoon boat under the deck. The deck is 3/4 marine plywood, supported over the pontoons with aluminum C channels every 12inch that are about 1.5x3x3/16. A step/bumper receiver would seem to be the best option, maybe using a larger aluminum plate e.g. 1x2x1/2 which I would mount against the C channels and to which I would mount the receiver. Are there any options you think that work better?

Your best bet is to use a universal hitch like the Stromberg Carlson Adjustable Accessory Hitch Receiver # SC45MR. This hitch will fit frames that measure 49 1/2" to 76 1/2" wide, has a 2" receiver opening, and has a 200 lb capacity, or if it's welded a 350 lb capacity.

Just so you know, this hitch is not intended to be used for towing and should only be used for accessories. If you have a different sized frame let me know what that is and I'd be happy to find a hitch that fits.
