Will 7-Way Socket Circuit Tester if Ground Circuit Isn't Active
Question:
I plugged the tester into the 7-pin socket on my 2008 yukon and there were no lights illuminated. after checking on my vehicle I discovered that the 12v was not connected and went ahead and connected the stud to the red wire with a black stripe....and no lights. my question is if I dont have a proper ground connection will I not get any readings...no LT...no RT....no Back Up... Frustrated.

Correct. If the trailer wiring ground isn't good then the rest of the wiring won't function either and show up on a circuit tester like the Curt # C66NR that you referenced.
