Can 40" Height of CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons Be Incrreased

Question:

I am reading that the length from the bottom of the galvanized metal to the top of the PBC tube is 40 inch Can the PVC tubing be raised a little higher if I need a few more inches? My boat is at a slip and now would be a good time to put these guides on my trailer without the boat on it. So my measurements might be a few inches off.

Helpful Expert Reply:

The tubing for the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers - 40" Tall # CE27626 is pretty much in a fixed location height-wise (see attached photo for connection style) so if you're needing taller guide-ons I recommend going with the 60" version, part # CE27646, and then trimming the guide-ons as needed.

You could try finding a way to add a sort of stopper higher up on the brackets to increase the height of the 40" setup but if that were to fail then the guides could drop while you're trying to load your boat which wouldn't be ideal.
