Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 2004 Ford Excursion Towing a 10k Boat

Question:

I have a 04 Ford Excursion, V10, 4x4 used to tow a 10,000 lb boat with a 1,000 lb tong weight. the weights are exact, measured with scales, but only 1/2 tank of gas and no equipment in the boat. the boat holds 200 gallons and the vehicle holds 40 gal. I only have surge brakes on the trailer. Is #RP66560 my best choice? Also, how does it work with surge brakes?

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue of the setup when it is ready to tow. Since you might tow with a full tank of fuel plus equipment loaded into your boat I think a setup with a higher tongue weight capacity than the Reese Steadi-Flex, part # RP66560 that you referenced would be your best choice.

I would think the Reese Steadi-Flex System part # RP66561 would be a better choice as it has tongue weight capacity of 1,400 lbs. This system is also compatible with surge brakes and would be your best option.

I attached an FAQ on weight distribution for you to check out also.
