Yes, the Valterra RV Awning Cleaner # V88542 will work to clean away mold on your awning. If the odor is a musty, mildew like odor, then it should disipate once the mold and mildew is cleaned off of the awning and it fully dries out.
1. Start by spot testing a small area of your awning to ensure you won't damage the material. Clear away loose debris and dirt. Then rinse the top and bottom of the awning.
2. Coat the area of mildew or mold with the cleaning solution and use a soft brush like the SM Arnold Bi-Level Vehicle Cleaning Brush # 38125-670; let it sit for the designated time frame listed on the back of the bottle. Then lightly scrub, careful not to use too much force because that can damage your awning.
3. Rinse the area with water until all of the mold and solution has been washed away.
4. Let the awning fully dry before you store it.
For best practice you should clean your awning at least twice a year to keep mold from forming and to keep the awning looking the best. You should also let your awning fully dry before retracting it whenever it gets wet.
