Does Heat Affect Hopkins Magnetic Lights
Question:
I am using the #c6304 lights to tow different trailers. They were delivered, unpackaged them, put batteries in them, tested them and they have worked beautifully over the spring on different trailers. The tow vehicle is a 2002 , 2500, Chevrolet extended cab. I have a connection of the four pin going into the seven pin. The mid point connector has lights to show it is connected to the truck lights. The lights are saying that i have a good connection to the truck. I put brand new batteries in the signal lights when the ones that had been in the bag, in the truck, wouldnt work. Can leaving the lights and the transmitter in the truck, all the time, affect them. I live in SW Louisiana. The truck sets out in the sun most of the time. Could heat build up in the truck affect the electronics in the transmitter? I dont remember anything being said about storing or not storing them in the tow vehicle. Because of our terrible roads, I use zip ties and dont trust the magnets. I sure could use some advice, buying another set would be a hard ship at this time.

Thank you for your purchase directly from etrailer of the Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights # C6304. It may be possible for extreme heat to affect any electronics, though it's impossible to say if that is the cause. Since you already tested the lights and it shows a connection, really the only thing to do is get a replacement, there isn't a fix for this. It does have a 90-day warranty, though if that is out I would consider something more robust, like the lifetime warranty that comes with the Roadmaster Standard Magnetic Tow Lights # RM-2120.
