Will Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Not Work if Battery Dies
Question:
For the DEMCO SM99251/DM86VR and other systems and brands of brake systems, for a tow vehicle dingy/toad where the brake systems picks up power from the tow vehicle, if the tow vehicle battery drains and become dead would that would mean the brake system becomes inoperable ? If so is the only way to know the battery is dead or something wrong is because the signal for braking from the tow vehicle is not working? Is there any other safety built in if the battery dies?

Correct, you do need a working battery for activation and continual operation of the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251 and Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink Monitor # DM86VR.
If you used the version with the Coachlink monitor you would know as you wouldn't get a signal that the brakes were applied. That said, a charge wire kit will allow you to avoid this completely with the Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Wire Kit for Demco Supplemental Braking Systems # DM66VR.
