Can 3,500 lb Trailer Axles Use Larger than 10 inch Diameter Brake Assemblies
Question:
Electric brakes. I bought a used trailer 5x14 made of thick angle iron. It has a 3500 pound axle with the square flange to mount brakes. I do not want to risk getting some horrid pot metal junk from China. I see you posted your brakes are made in the USA. Now, do 10 inch and 12 inch brake assemblies fasten to the same square flange? I doubt I need 12 inch brakes but bigger is always better.

Since you have 3,500 lb trailer axles you would need to stick with 3,500 lb axle brake assemblies like the part # AKEBRK-35-SA. Even if you could fit a larger assembly it wouldn't fit the drums that were designed for 3,500 lb axles. The correct assemblies will be for sure powerful enough.
