Wiring Two 12 Volt Batteries in Series or Parallel to Power Motorhome

Question:

I have a 2004 Georgie Boy motor home with new batteries for the home and not for the motor. Can you give me a drawing on connecting?

How you wire the batteries will depend on the voltage requirement of the motorhome and the voltage of the batteries you are using. Chances are, your motorhome has a 12 volt system, in which case you would wire the two batteries in parallel (assuming the batteries are 12 volt). This would provide 12 volts of output.

You can see this by looking at the diagram I provided. If you want the battery voltage to double, like using two 12 volt batteries to power a 24 volt system, you would wire the batteries in series. Wiring the batteries in parallel would allow you to leave the battery voltage unchanged, but double the capacity.
