Height Adjustment of the Reese 5th Wheel Slider Head on a 2009 Dodge 2500 and Copper Canyon Trailer
Question:
I have a fifth wheel Reese slider installed in the back of 2009 Dodge 2500 quad. 5th wheel will have extended pin box. Ill be picking up the fifth wheel later this year and I expect to have to lower the fifth wheel hitch because it was installed at the high point. Can this be done by me with just socket tools for relocating/lowering or specific torque or power/air need to be used? Also is there a general rule on height from bed of truck to top of fifth wheel hitch. The fifth wheel is a 252FWRLS copper canyon mid profile with extended hitch.

Yes, you can adjust the head height on your fifth wheel hitch yourself. You will need a torque wrench and the properly sized socket and wrench.
The torque setting for the 16K and 18K slider head adjustment bolts is 75 foot pounds. You will need to allow approximately six to eight inches of clearance between the top of the pickup walls and the underside of the front of the trailer for pitch and roll of the unit.
Allow more clearance between the pickup walls and the trailer for off road operation.
I attached an FAQ page on fifth wheel trailers to the right for you to check out also.
