Replacement For Atwood 83000, 83010 Drum Brake Actuator & 10 Inch Free Backing Drum Brakes

Question:

Good day. I have an Atwood 83000, 83005, 83010 surge brake actuator on my boat trailer. The master cylinder hass failed part# 85841, what options do I have for repair/replacement? The boat trailer also has 4 Atwood 10 uni-servo brakes in conjunction with Trailer Buddy HD-1377 drums Inner Bearing - Cone L68149, Cup L68110 / Outer Bearing - Cone L44610, Cup L44610 / Spindo Seal 233-168-SP2-1 I would like to install free backing brakes, what would work with my boat trailer? Would it be better to convert to disk brakes? Do you supply the Spindo Seals? Thank you

So the Atwood 83000, 83005, 83010 brake actuators are obsolete, and Atwood is no longer in business so there isn't a replacement master cylinder. You'll need to replace the whole actuator, and for one like the Atwood with the same 8,000 lb capacity that connects to a 2 inch hitch ball and mounts to a 3 inch trailer tongue, use the following from Demco:

- Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8609101

I do recommend sticking with drum brakes as there isn't a set of disc brakes for your spindle, and for 10 inch, free-backing hydraulic drum brakes you'll need the following set, along with the mounting hardware:

- Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - Dacromet # AKFBBRK-35-D

- Mounting Hardware for 10" Brake Assemblies # BRKH10B

And finally we do indeed have the exact Spindo Seal 233-168-SP2-1 you need, which is the Grease Seal # 010-180-00.
