Will 800 lb Tongue Weight Rated WD System Work on Trailer with 6,900 lb GVWR

Question:

Hi. I have a camper that has dry weight of 3300 pounds and gvwr of 5900 pounds. Would a weight distribution hitch rated for 6000 pounds be best or would one rated for 8000 be ok to use? I currently have the reese 49912 which is rated for 8000 pounds for a different trailer. Im not sure if that is best or I should get the 49911 which is rated for 6000 pounds

Since trailer tongue weight can be up to 15 percent of total trailer weight an 800 lb tongue weight system like what you have would work great on your trailer that has a GVWR of 5,900 lbs.
