Can 6K Mobile Home Axle Fit with Standard 6-Lug Hub and Drum

Question:

I have a trailer that has two Dexter 6K axles with Dexter 12x2 rim clamp mobile home style drums. The hubs use Inner Bearing: 1 3/8 L68149 and Outer Bearing: 1 1/4 LM67048 with Grease Seal TCM1932502 having a 1.93 I.D. - 2.51 O.D. Do you offer a replacement hub/drum to convert these to use a standard 6 bolt rim, rather than the open center mobile home rims?

Expert Reply:

The only hub/drum assembly we have that matches those specs is the Dexter # 8-407-5UC3-EZ but it's only rated for a 4.4K axle so you don't want to be using it for a 6K axle.

If your trailer is equipped with mobile home axles then your best bet is to change out your axles. Mobile home axles are really only designed to be used once so there isn't much thought into making sure replacement parts will be readily available.

Should you choose to replace your axles you'll need to take hub-face and spring-center measurements and then choose one from our linked 6K selection that matches what you measured. I'm attaching a helpful article and a video showing how you can do this.

Let me know if you end up needing help choosing a replacement axle and I'll be more than happy to help you out!
