Is Encapsulated Power Diode Needed to Install Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty on a 2020 Subaru Forester
Question:
I‘m installing the RedArc TowPro Liberty on a Subaru Forester 2020 and am wondering if it requires the diode #RED34FR to stop the brake light signal feed back? In the install video for the 2020 Outback you‘re just tapping into the signal from brake pedal switch nothing mention of a diode anywhere. Essentially it’s the same vehicle platform as the Forester… both come with standard features Adaptive Cruise Control, AEB, etc. How come that the diode is mentioned nowhere? Yet when you search the questions it’s basically referenced as a must have to protect your electronics. Do we need it on those newer Subarus or not?? Could you please clarify! Thank You!

The Redarc Encapsulated Power Diode # RED34FR shouldn't be needed for installing the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR and Pigtail # RED69FR on your 2020 Subaru Forester.
The answer page you're referring to didn't have us telling someone to install it, rather that person asked how it installs and our expert gave them insight on how to install it. Aside from that we haven't recommended the Power Diode for any other Subaru vehicles.
