Running Light Circuit Blows on 2001 GMC 3500 Using 7-Way to 6-Way Adapter
Question:
hooking up a horse trailer we keep blowing the fuse for the parking lamp 2001 GM 1 ton pickup using center pin adapter that adapts 7 blade to 6 round trailer.

Also you will want to make sure that the trailer connectors on the vehicle and trailer are clean and free of corrosion. Also make sure that there are no frayed wires from the trailer connector to the tail lights because there could be a short causing the whole issue. Also make sure the main trailer connector ground and the grounds for all of the lights are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces.
There are 2 different ways that a 6-Way connector can be wired. The center pin will either be 12 volt power or it will be output to the trailer brakes. The other functions are as indicated in the diagram contained in the linked help article. If yours is wired up differently you may be able to fix it. If you can re-pin the adapter you are using that should solve the problem. Or you could get adapter # HM47570 which will allow you to quickly change between the two configurations as needed.
