Comparing With Or Without Tow Package On A 2017 Volkswagen Touareg
Question:
I am looking at this brake controller : Curt Assure Trailer Brake Controller with Adjustable Screen - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional Universal Wiring Adapter for Curt Trailer Brake Controllers And I am unsure on if I need to purchase the “without factory tow package” or the “with factory tow package”. Can you tell me what the difference is between the two options?

I can help point you in the right direction for sure. The "with or without tow package" will determine what plug or "pigtail" comes with the brake controller.
On the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg, vehicles with the factory tow package will have a 7 way trailer plug on the back, and will be equipped with a factory brake control port under the dash. If you do have the tow package you can use the plug and play pigtail # C51522 to easily install the Curt Assure # C49UR.
If you do not have the tow package we can still set you up. You would need a 4 pole wiring harness # 118668 and a brake controller install kit # ETBC7, as well as a universal pigtail # C51515 in order to install and use the Curt Assure.
