Replacement Gas Struts For The Awning Arms On A 2015 Heartland Wilderness 3175RE

Question:

We have a 2015 Heartland Wilderness 3175RE and our awning isnt opening/closing properly and I believe it is a bad shock/strut. We got almost no information from the dealer and I am unsure which shocks we need. If you could direct me and/or let me know what I am looking for I would greatly appreciate it.

You'll want to first verify the brand of the awning to ensure you actually have a Solera before purchasing anything. If you look at the base of the awning arms it will typically either say Solera (Lippert) or A&E (Dometic). If you have an A&E awning you would need to reach out to Dometic directly for replacements. For Solera we have the following replacement shocks depending on the size/type of the arms:

For short or flat support awning arms you'll need part # LC280343 (measures 26" extended/15" retracted - 124lbs of force). For pitched arms you'll need part # LC260282 (measures 24" extended/15" retracted - 124 to 144lbs of force). I recommend measuring your current struts before purchasing as well to ensure proper fitment.

If you want to elaborate further on how the awning is acting I'd be happy to troubleshoot the issue more.
