Parts Needed for a 2023 Subaru Forrester to Tow a Trailer With Electric Brakes
Question:
I have a Subaru Forster Wilderness with 3000# towing capacity. However, it is required to have brakes to tow anything over 1000#. It comes pre-wired with a 4 pin harness in the cargo area of the vehicle. What do I need to tow a trailer with a 7 pin and brakes?

To be able to tow a trailer that has electric brakes with your 2023 Forrester, you're just going to need to add the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7.
This part will plug into your existing 4-pole connector and add a 7-way which will allow you to tow a trailer with brakes.
You're also going to need a brake controller like the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED44FR to be able to control and adjust your braking power.
