Recommended 7-Way Connector for a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Using a Bluetooth Brake Controller
Question:
I have a Jeep Wrangler 2014 JKU. The factory wired a 4 flat plug at the rear bumper. I need to change it to a 7 pin. I am looking at your ETBC7. I want the entire 7 pin to function. I understand the four flat plugs directly into the 7 pin. The white wire is grounded to the frame. The black wire is power from my battery to the trailer. The yellow wire is reverse and will be tapped into a reverse light wire at the taillight. My question is the blue wire. I plan to use a bluetooth brake controller. Therefore, I dont have a brake controller under my dash for the blue wire to connect with. Where does the blue wire go? Does it go to the brake switch? Does it connect to where the red wire for a brake controller would go if I were using a traditional setup tap into the white wire with brown stipe?

The Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7 is exactly what you need to add a fully functional 7-way to your Wrangler. The blue brake controller wire can be ran to the cab of your Jeep and capped off since you will be using a Bluetooth controller like item # C51180. You won't need the wire but this will give you the option to change controllers down the road.
Another alternative, and what I recommend, is to use the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation item # ETBC7L which doesn't have the blue wire. This 7-way kit is designed specifically for Bluetooth brake controllers. Everything else is ran and installed the same you just won't have the blue wire step.
