Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes that Won't Engage

Im working on a Exiss 4 horse trailer and I can get the breaks to engage

Can you hear anything click or hum near the wheels when you apply the manual override lever of the brake controller? If so, that means the current is making it's way to the assemblies and most likely something mechanical that's at fault which you would need to take apart the hub and assembly to investigate further.

If there's no click or hum the problem is most likely wiring which can be as simple as corrosion on the pins of the 7-way connectors that need to be cleaned off with sandpaper. Or it can be damaged wiring that's cut or shorting out which would need to be repaired or the assemblies/trailer grounds are not in good shape and also need to be fixed/repaired.
