Replacement Suspension Recommendation For Tilt Bed Snowmobile Trailer To Increase Capacity

Question:

I hope you can help me. Do you have replacement 4 leaf slipper springs for what started out as a single snowmobile hauler 4x8 trailer on a tilt down bed? I use it as an all-around utility trailer. There is no brand marking nor axle weight capacity info. The axle is 1-3/4 wide x 1 -1/2 height, U shaped with the hub/wheel spindles attached to this channel. The length of the axle is 57 to the ends of the hub grease caps. The springs are 1-3/4 wide and measure 27-5/8 from the bolt hole center to the slipper end. Each of the 4 leafs are 1/4 thick. The free arch is 4-3/8. The tires are 4.80-8, 5 bolt hubs. I overloaded the trailer with a few loads of wet/dense mulch and one of the leaves broke, so I wouldnt mind looking for an option with a somewhat greater load capacity. What options do you see and what would you recommend? Thank you very much.

It sounds like your trailer likely only has a 1,000lb capacity if it was only designed for hauling a single snowmobile. Using the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # A20RS545 will replace your suspension and axle with a single part. This is rated for 2,000lbs and has the most common 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. It may require some additional frame support or different tires to be able to safely carry any more weight than what your trailer is rated for. We currently do not have any slipper springs which match the dimensions of your current springs.
