installed a curt 51126 brake controller . is it suppose to light up when i start the vehicle ?

The Curt Discovery Trailer Brake Controller # C84VV is supposed to light up when you switch on the ignition or start your 2009 Chevrolet Silverado. With no trailer connected you should just see the period(.) on the screen.
