Realistically, it is always best to stay under the straps working load limit. But, a strap with a 10,000 lb. break strength and 4,000 lb. working load limit like the # FWS20HD0200 should be able to handle your 2015 Sea Ray SDX 270. Granted if you have a dry weight of 5,659 lbs., you are going to have a higher weight when you are winching it because of the additional weight put into the boat for use and not dry. There are also additional factors that play a part, like the severity of the incline you are winching up and whether your boat trailer has bunk boards or rollers.

The # FWS20HD0200 is the highest rated strap that we have. There are some things you can do to help prevent the strap from breaking. Such as making sure it isn't rubbing against any sharp edges on the winch stand or trailer and visually inspecting and replacing the strap when it starts to shows signs of fraying or worn spots.

If you are winching up a steep incline, it may be worth adding rollers to your boat trailer to help ease the burden on the winch. Otherwise finding a strap with a working load limit higher than your boats weight when in use (not dry) is the most sure bet.
