Can Lock Core for Older Gorilla Guard Coupler Lock Be Replaced
Question:
I have an old style gorilla guard receiver lock. It has a regular straight type key not a pop machine style key. Can just the lock mechanism be changed?

You might be able to have a skilled locksmith remove and change out the lock core on your older Gorilla Guard trailer coupler lock, but for your application it might just be easier to replace the entire unit since the company that makes the keys (Horizon Global) was bought out earlier this year (2023) and there's no telling when or if they will have replacement parts available.
If you do choose to replace the lock then I recommend the following:
- 1-7/8" or 2" Coupler # e98897
- 2-5/16" Coupler # e98895
