Troubleshooting An E-6 Error Code With A Power Watchdog Surge Protector

Question:

I purchased a Hughes PWD50-EPO-H surge protector from etrailer on April 12, 2023 and installed it a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately, I get an E-6 error message when plugged into my house electrical system, my inverter generator, and at RV parks. While one of these three power sources may have a neutral and power wire crossed the odds of all three power sources being bad is astronomical. My inverter generator has worked well for several years and I have never touched the wiring. The wiring in my garage has also been used for years without issue and everything appears properly connected. Can you tell me whether the Power Watchdog reacts to current issues downstream as well as upstream? I have not been able to sort this out.

I spoke with the manufacturer and they stated that if you were using an adapter along with the Power Watchdog Surge Protector with Bluetooth and Emergency Shut Down - Hardwired - 50 Amp # HU27FR to step down to 30 or 15 amp service that the adapter could be the issue and would explain why you were seeing it in multiple locations. Since you have the hardwired version it is important to also check that you wired it with the correctly to match up with the RV power cord and from the Watchdog to the power distribution center.

If the wiring is good and you are not using an adapter and still having this issue then you will need to reach out to Hughes Autoformers directly for a warranty replacement.
