What is Purpose of Step Bolts in Dexter Heavy Duty Equalizer Kit

Is there any advantage to using step shackle bolts or are these interchangeable with standard shackle bolts?

Step bolts have the advantage of having a lower profile which helps for getting tools into harder to reach areas. Or some prefer they way they look. I would recommend sticking with the step bolts that come with the # K71-449-00.
