Are 3,500 lb Axles Sometimes 3 inch Diameter

I HAVE a 3inaxel and a sticker saying that is rated for 3500lbs why?

While the standard axle diameter for a 3,500 lb trailer axle is 2-3/8 inches it's not unheard of to see a 3 inch diameter 3,500 lb axle. All of our 3,500 lb axles like the part # 7359765 are 2-3/8 inches.
