Should PSI of Air Lift 7500 XL Air Bags for 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 be Based on Pin Weight of Trailer

Question:

I understand the Air Lift LoadLifter 7500XL will support 7500 pounds at 100 PSI. If this is a linear pressure then 1 PSI will support 75 pounds. I have a tongue and 5th wheel weight indicator on my 2020 GMC 2500HD that tells me how much weight is being put on the pickup by lowering the trailer all the way on the pickup. If I have a 5th wheel that is putting 2275 pounds on the trailer, I should have to inflate my air bags to 31 PSI to offset the added weight on the pickup 2275/75=30.33 PSI. Does this sound correct to you?

Yes, it does sound correct; you can use the pin weight calculation for the psi of the Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Air Helper Springs # AL57541 on your 2020 GMC Sierra 2500.

That said, it doesn't have to be that exact, and you can use your calculations more as a baseline if you like. You can test it out using that air pressure as sort of a starting point, and adjust from there. If you go to 31 psi and your truck is level with the full pin weight then awesome, you're set. But if you're still sagging a bit, or riding a bit high, then just adjust as necessary, but you are on the right track.

The one thing I highly recommend with these air bags which is going to make adjusting the psi much simpler is a compressor. Getting a wireless option with a remote and Bluetooth so you can use an app on your phone to adjust the psi will allow you to add pressure outside your cab so you can take a look at exactly how level you are. The best option for this is the Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor System for Air Helper Springs - Remote - Bluetooth - EZ Mount # AL25980EZ.
