Will Prodigy RF Pair with a 2014 Nissan Frontier and BMW X5
Question:
Just purchased 2014 Nissan Frontier with factory installed hitch and 7-way plug. I am considering purchasing the Prodigy RF 90250 and two remotes. But, after reading the reviews, it appears that if a vehicle has LED taillights or is of foreign manfacture this controller wont work. I just need to know if it will work on my 2014 Frontier without borrowing an American Mfg. auto to pair the unit. I plan on sharing trailer use with a friend who has a BMW X5 so thats the reason for the second remote. Can you shed some light on this matter? Thanks,

One way or another you will be able to get the Prodigy RF Brake Controller part # TK94FR to work on your trailer with your 2014 Nissan Frontier and your friend's BWM X5.
Not every vehicle with LED taillights or BMW will have issues, in fact most do not. But if you do find that you have pairing issues there are a couple solutions you can try that should pretty easily fix the issue.
For the first one you will turn you vehicle off and but leave the key on while you try to pair the trailer to the vehicle.
The second process is a little more involved and requires a second tow vehicle with a 7-way connector at the rear of the tow vehicle. Next, you will need to connect your trailer with the RF brake controller on it to that vehicle's 7 way. As long as your vehicle is within range of your trailer at this point you should be able to pair your trailer to the vehicle.
Once you get your vehicle to pair with the controller you will not need to repeat this process.
