Amp Draw of Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty & Will Blue Light Shut Off

Question:

Redarc Tow Pro Liberty. I just installed this in my vehicle. Everything works great but I am concerned about leaving my trailer plugged in to it for more than a day or two. The instructions state that when no trailer is connected, the controller goes into sleepinch mode and the LED is not active. If I have a trailer hooked up, the blue light doesnt seem to shut off. Does that mean the controller is going to stay active and drain my truck battery? Obviously I can simply unplug it to prevent the battery from draining, but I also know when I do that, at some point I will inevitably forget to check it before driving off and not have any trailer brakes/lights. I guess the most useful info here would be the amp draw of the controller while it is connected to a trailer and sitting idle. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Appreciate the purchase of the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR, and that blue light does go off eventually - it will fade out after roughly 15 minutes. Keep in mind once you open the door the blue light will come back on, so it may not look like it is going out but take a gander in the window after 15 minutes and the light will be gone.

It does need to be disconnected from the trailer for this to happen though; if you leave the # RED24FR it will not go into sleep mode. If you leave your trailer connected and the controller is not in sleep mode it will pull ~2 volts. However, if you disconnect the Liberty and it is in sleep mode, per Redarc it pulls less than 5 milliamps, or 5/1000 of an amp. So realistically it would take months and months of you not driving your truck while the controller is in sleep mode for your battery to be affected.
