Will Trailer Shock Kit Lessen the Trailer Effects on a Bike Rack at the Back of the Trailer
Question:
Im looking to carry 4 bikes on my tear trailer, and Im learning that carrying on the back end although I do have a 2 inch receiver puts added force on the bike rack, which could fail due to the bouncy leaf springs. Is there some shocks like the Lippert Bolt-On Shock Kit I might use to dampen the bouncing in the rear of my tear? It weighs about 1200 lbs empty. Thanks!

Expert Reply:
Adding the Lippert Bolt-On Shock Kit w/ Heavy Duty Gas Shocks - 3,500-lb (2-3/8") Axle # LC281255 would help to lessen the impact of the trailer movement on your bikes and bike rack, but since there isn't a way to quantify what the difference will be, we still need to use a bike rack that's been rated for use at the back of a travel trailer so with that in mind I recommend using the Thule Range bike rack:
- Thule Range RV Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # TH9057
Thule has tested and approved this rack for use at the back of a travel trailer and it can carry up to 4 bikes weighing in at 37.5 lbs each, it comes with bike and rack locks for peace of mind, and the cradles are a little further out than standard cradles which makes it easier to load your bikes - so it's really the best option for as many bikes as you're needing to transport.
