Can the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack Be Used with a Hitch Extender on a Sprinter Motorhome

Question:

I’m interested in the Thule T2 Pro XTR for my two E-Bikes. I have 24’ foot Sprinter Class C Motorhome that has a spare tire on the back. I would have to put a hitch extender on the hitch in order for the bikes to clear the spare tire. Can I do that with this rack? Thanks!

Expert Reply:

It really depends on the capacity of your hitch. Using an extender like the RockyMounts Hitch Extender # RKY10008 will decrease your hitches capacity by 50%. So, realistically you will need a hitch that has a tongue weight capacity of 400 lbs. or higher because that will then be cut in half.

If your hitch is rated high enough, then you can use the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack # TH83JV.

If your hitch is not rated high enough, please let me know. Also, provide me with the measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of your spare tire and I can try and find a rack that clears your spare without an extender.
